From 23 June to 4 July 2025, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv held the fifth international English-language Artificial Intelligence Technologies summer school. AITss-2025 remained online, which made it possible to involve participants from different Ukrainian cities and from abroad.

The school was organised by the LNU Centre for Marketing and Development, the Department of System Design at the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies, and the Artificial Intelligence Technology Laboratory. The 2025 edition brought together 682 participants from 27 countries, including students, lecturers, school pupils, IT professionals and academic communities representing 87 higher education institutions, 10 secondary education institutions and 16 companies.

The two-week programme included more than 50 lectures and practical workshops. Its topics covered Generative AI, Big Data, Advanced Machine Learning, High-performance computing, Mobile and Web development, as well as other areas that shape the current AI technology landscape.

More than 50 experts from universities, technology companies and specialised organisations contributed to the school. NeuroForge served as the official partner, while GlobalLogic and Amazon joined as partners. The initiative was also supported by EveryMatrix, Intellias, BCD TripTech, DevsX, SoftServe, EPAM, Sigma Software University, ELEKS, TechMagic, Leobit, Profisea Labs, University of Cagliari, LetsData, Machine Factor Technologies, TechHope Transitions, the National Aerospace University KhAI, the EU and other partners.

AITss-2025 was held with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Lviv City Council and Lviv Regional Military Administration. Information support was provided by Lviv IT Cluster, IT Ukraine Association, DOU, Marketer, Dyvys INFO and PointLviv.

The AI project competition, held on 4 July 2025, became a separate practical track of the school. Participants presented their own solutions, received expert feedback and showed how ideas from the learning programme could be turned into applied projects.

  • First place went to Sofia and Olena Mikhailova with AI System for Methane Emission Control.
  • Second place was awarded to the AI TechGuide Voice project, focused on a voice AI guide for technical instructions.
  • Third place was shared by HydroEye, a water-quality monitoring system, and EcoEcho, a solution for analysing and forecasting the environmental state of urban areas.

AITss-2025 showed that university AI education can be international, applied and open to different audiences. The project gave participants new knowledge and created a space for cooperation between students, lecturers, engineers, mentors and partners from Ukraine and other countries.
