AI for Public Sector: Data Analytics, City Services and Software Integrations

Public and municipal institutions often need not abstract AI models, but clear tools for data analysis, problem detection, decision prioritisation and communication between departments.

Context

AI as a tool for data-based decisions

The laboratory works with tasks where data must be turned into a clear picture: maps, indicators, period comparisons, load rankings, anomaly search or report generation.

For the public sector, transparency, reproducibility and practicality matter. We therefore focus on solutions that can be explained, verified and used in everyday work by responsible employees.

Typical cooperation formats

AI for the public sector works best when there is a specific question, data for a period and responsible users who need the result.

  • traffic-flow and congestion analysis
  • interactive maps for management decisions
  • dashboards for municipal or public data
  • automation of reports and internal processes
  • pattern discovery in large datasets

Example: transport analytics

In the Lviv road-infrastructure research project, the system builds statistics by intersections, roads and time intervals. This approach helps not only see a problem, but compare load and search for causes of complications.

From research to pilot

It is best to start with a limited pilot: one workflow, one dataset, one user type and a clear success criterion. After that, the system can be scaled to more districts, departments or tasks.

FAQ

Questions partners usually ask

Which institutions can cooperate with the laboratory?

We are open to cooperation with city councils, public institutions, universities, municipal enterprises, laboratories and teams working on socially useful digital solutions.

Are “perfect” data needed to start?

No, but data quality, format, time period and constraints must be understood. Often the first project stage is data audit and realistic technical framing.

Can non-commercial civic tech projects be considered?

Yes. The laboratory is ready to consider non-commercial projects for communities, public institutions and socially important tasks when there is a responsible partner and a clear expected result.

Cooperation

Have a task in this direction?

The laboratory is ready to discuss research, prototypes and non-commercial projects with universities, laboratories, companies, hospitals and public institutions.
